the return of scribblans

meta

Here's the story of this blog.

So far.

I set it up using Scribbles.

I named it 'blogbear' at first.

I was happy with that.

Then I wasn't, so I changed it to 'wobblybear' a few weeks later

I even bought a domain for it. wobblybear.uk

I was happy with that.

Now I'm not.

So I'm changing the name to scribblans a few more weeks later.

That's generally the name of my presence on the web that I use everywhere else. The wobblybear name, appropriate though it is, mentally jars when I post a link to it on my scribblans fedi account.

It's saying "Hey friends, you all know me as scribblans, and I wrote this post on my blog, wobblybear."

And I imagine people shrugging, and saying, "Eh?"

But that is probably only in my imagination.

Anyway, I bought the domain scribblans.net, to use instead now, which considering wobblybear.uk has about 9 months to go on it before it expires, with me having already paid for that as well, is now a significant investment into this latest whim, because technically I haven't 'used up' all of the last one yet. (It's not, it's only about a tenner, but I'm a skinflint and I like Value For Money.)

I'm with Brandon (https://brandons-journal.com/post/thinking-about-domain-names) on the lack of a need for a custom domain name of your own really.

But, you know, it's a bit of personal vanity. An address of your own in the vast wastes of the corporate web to call home with your own (adopted) name.

A good few of which I have abandoned in the past.

Anyway, the blog is now called 'scribblans', and has the URL scribblans.net

It makes no difference to anyone at all, but it did give me something to write some words about.

Note to self: Now stop messing about and write something worthwhile, you numpty. Preferably something interesting and/or entertaining.
